The first phase of Habitat for Humanity of Snohomish County’s 30 single-family home build project called Twin Creeks Village will begin July 31, 2017. The 1.4-acre neighborhood where Habitat will build these townhouse-style homes is on 112 Street in Everett.
A single rental home lies on the plot of land where Habitat will build a fourplex in the first phase of the Twin Creeks project. The three bedroom, two bathroom townhouses in the fourplex will take about one year to complete.
“It is our intent to give priority to the family currently renting the home on that plot in the family selection process for one of the four homes, since they currently meet the criteria that makes them eligible for a Habitat home,” Executive Director Guinn Rogers said.
Habitat Snohomish will begin the family selection process early 2017 for the phase one homes in Twin Creeks Village. Eligible families earn between 20 and 80 percent of the median income in Snohomish County.
The Twin Creeks homes will be completed in four phases. The second phase is a 14-home condo-style project that will hold eight one-bedroom, one-bath flats and six two-bedroom, two-bath townhouses. The third phase will include two triplexes, that will house six families and the fourth phase will include two fourplexes that will house eight families.
The entire project will be complete by August 2023. Habitat is currently in the final stage of building a single home in Everett called Phoenix II. An estimated 8,000 volunteer hours have gone into the house and that number will need to double for the first phase of Twin Creeks Village, Rogers said.
“This project is our biggest yet and it’s going to more than double the number of houses our affiliate has built,” Rogers said. “A lot of families that need a decent, affordable place to live will get the help they need to become successful homeowners.”
