HFHSC Weekly Construction Report 5/23/16

Posted on Posted in Construction

The Habitat for Humanities of Snohomish Co. (HFHSC) weekly construction report keeps stakeholders informed and involved. Published Mondays. Covers our active projects. Feedback/questions welcome at construction@habitatsnohomish.org.

– Foundation and stem wall forms set in one day and green-tagged
– Temp power pole installed and green-tagged
– Concrete pour 6/1/16

Phoenix 2 (P2) One build planned and completed. Main work item: setting footing and stem wall forms. The forms control the shape of the concrete foundation, upon which P2 is built. Getting foundation correct is essential. A mistake here will haunt us throughout the build. (See photos) The temporary electrical pole was installed, and a security light. Water to the site was restored.

Two builds planned next week. On the 1st we’ll pour our foundation. On Saturday we’ll strip the forms, and begin installing the long board called joists that support the first floor. All available shifts are filled for both days.

At last count over 16 families expressed interest in becoming P2 owner/builders. The final applicant pool closed 6/1/16.

Twin Creeks (TC) No significant TC activities this week. One new tenant has been qualified, and will begin moving into TC in mid-June, bringing us to six of seven units occupied.

The Twin Creeks Village program document, a guide to help us plan and get this project done, is being developed by Gabbert Architects Planners (GAP). The guide is the first of five steps GAP will complete for us. Step 5 output are the construction drawings required to get permits. I’d like to have permits in-hand on 8/1/18, 26 months from now.

Everett Store Fence After an initial effort two weeks ago, not much progress. Setting aside time next week to get hard surface removed for fence poles. Then 6/4/16 build day builders will set poles. Still on target to deliver fence on 6/13/16.
