Taylor has joined us as an Americorps National member and is serving her term as our Construction Crew Lead, working alongside Chris Anderson, Construction Manager, supporting an increase in the number of families our affiliate is able to serve through new construction and repair projects. It was immediately clear from the get-go that Taylor was an obvious and natural fit for this role and for our organization and we are so thrilled to have her as part of the Habitat team.

Taylor is 27 years old and grew up overseas, living in China and Australia. She then furthered her schooling graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in International Studies.

Taylor joined AmeriCorps because it afforded her the opportunity to obtain real-life, practical experience right out of college. She plans to eventually move into the construction industry with a focus on low-income housing and more sustainable building practices that reduce waste and energy. While Taylor is particularly passionate about starting up our Repair Service Program, she said as a whole “AmeriCorps has been a great learning experience so far, and I’m excited to see what the next half of my term brings!”

“I know we can do a lot of good helping a lot of families with critical home repairs that they might not otherwise be able to afford. So far, our test cases have gone very well, and I’m excited to have the program ready to roll out full time!”

Outside of her AmeriCorps duties, Taylor enjoys spending her time working on her farm in Oso trying to keep the cows from escaping, or in her woodshop where you can often find her making furniture. She also enjoys pina colada’s and getting caught in the rain.
