In 2020, Michael and Vickie moved into their Habitat home in Gold Bar. Read more about their update below.
When Michael and Vickie applied for their Habitat home, they were living in an apartment where the neighborhood around them had deteriorated. They were unable to see their grandchild or have their family over.
After being selected for the Gold Bar 2 home, they put in 500 hours of sweat equity as a down payment to help build their house. The pandemic delayed their move in until September, but Michael and Vickie are homeowners now.
“It was really a gift to be selected for a Habitat home. Knowing that we have a place to call our own, have friends and family over,” said Michael.
While Covid has a pause on plans to gather, Michael and Vickie are enjoying all the nature surrounding their new home.
“It feels great to be able to sit outside. Our home was called a cabin in the woods and it truly is lovely and to know we helped build it is a good feeling,” added Vickie.
Though they are waiting for it to be safe to gather, Michael and Vickie aren’t wasting time waiting to unpack and decorate. Overall, Michael and Vickie are thrilled to have a place of their own.
“We have a new feeling of belonging to a great community. A stable place for our retirement that we can afford has been a big weight lifted off our shoulders.”
