This year, we are going to hightlight Habitat Snohomish people who help us operate. Today, meet Mary Rickel, a board member and the chair of our Family Services Committee.

My church had committed one year to helping with construction and supplying food to a build in Everett. I signed up to volunteer with them for a few Saturdays. A while later Habitat sent out an email asking for people to help on the committee, and I joined.”

Mary served on the Family Services Committee for eight years before joining the board of directors three years ago. As part of the Family Services Committee, Mary helps lead the selection of families for each new home. This year, the committee will select four families for Phase II of Twin Creeks Village.

“I enjoy selecting families to become homeowners and partners with Habitat and being able to provide affordable homeownership. The best part is volunteering with so many different individuals and organizations and the homeowners themselves who come together to build the home. You get a real sense of community.”
