Today, we’d like to introduce you to one of our Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) members, John Tam. John, a former Boeing civil engineer, got involved with Habitat Snohomish after being recruited by RSVP/SeniorCorps. Originally, John thought he could use his experience in engineering to assist with land development, but because there were no opportunities of this nature at the time, he started volunteering at our Lynnwood Store.
For the past two and a half years, John has been coming into the Lynwood Store to assist with cleaning, organizing, and testing donated tools. Additionally, he has helped out with our Raise the Roof fundraiser, and other assorted volunteer opportunities.
John values the relationships that have been built, including the breaks that allow for chit-chat with friends alongside a hot cup of tea, and being able to help in the community.
